The German Roamers conquer Iceland with the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier

No-one tells more gripping stories than travellers. That's why we sent Europe's highest-reach influencer collective on a special mission to Iceland for the launch of the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier. Through the smartwatch, 3.8 million nature fans were able to participate live in the German Roamers' adventures.

The challenge with the launch of the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier was to create an online campaign that would allow the company to reach the outdoor enthusiasts for whom the smartwatch was developed. This required extraordinary storytellers and an emotional link like the German Roamers, Europe's largest outdoor influencer collective.

We decided on a road trip to Iceland lasting several days in order to take the smartwatch to its limits. The varied landscape made it possible to put the functions of the smartwatch to the test in nature. The route of the influencers was defined by the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier and the followers could experience the road trip live on the landing page in the form of a travel diary. More than 3.8 million users made use of this possibility and more than 13 million contacts were reached. The content generated in this way was so convincing that it was used instead of the classic campaign motifs and was even used for print ads and advertorials.

That the campaign was a total success once again became evident at the beginning of June 2017 when it won the German Prize for Online Communication (DPOK) in the Storytelling category.

Winning the DPOK is an honour. Success in the “Storytelling” category in particular was something very special for us, because that's what we do at visumate – tell the most gripping stories
